Pastor Bob Hallman
Senior Pastor

As a young boy growing up in Hawaii, one of the furthest things from Bob’s mind was becoming a pastor! Once, when he was 10 and leaving church, his pastor laid his hand on Bob’s head and said, “God has a call on your life for full-time ministry!” Bob’s private reaction was, “That’ll be the day!” He spent the next seven years ignoring that call while pursuing sports and academics. But at age 17, realizing he was still unfulfilled despite numerous achievements and influenced by the lives of fellow students who had been “born again”, Bob knelt by his bed and committed his life to Christ. He felt an incredible lifting of guilt and was filled with an intense love for God and others. During and after college, God confirmed his calling on Bob’s life through a variety of leadership opportunities and fruitfulness in ministry. In 1983, he became the associate pastor for Pastor Bill Stonebraker at Calvary Chapel Honolulu, overseeing the youth, college/singles, radio ministry and administration ministries.

During this time, Bob met his lovely wife, Becky, and married in 1987. Desiring further training, Bob and Becky left Hawaii for Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts where he graduated with a Master of Divinity. It was also during this formative time that Bob became convinced of the immense value of personal discipleship. He was able to implement and focus primarily on leadership development and discipleship while ministering at a church in New York. While in New York, the Lord graciously blessed Bob and Becky with two handsome sons, Jonathan & Michael. In 1996, after 10 years of ministry in the northeast, Bob accepted Pastor Bill’s invitation to pastor Calvary Chapel Kauai, an existing but struggling ministry in Kapaa.

Pastor Bob and Becky love what God is doing at Calvary Chapel Kauai through such a wonderful group of friends and staff. Bob places a premium on collegiality and friendship in the church body. He is gifted in teaching, encouraging and equipping believers, and developing leaders. He also strongly emphasizes evangelism and discipleship and loves helping people grow in their relationship with Christ. God has blessed CCK beyond anyone’s expectations, recently entrusting the church with 66 acres for ministry development.

In his spare time, Pastor Bob loves going on dates with Becky and spending time with his sons. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he really enjoys doing the things his teenage sons love doing: surfing, camping, hunting, hiking, and running.

Malie de la Cruz
Church Administrator

Malie was born and raised in San Jose, California, but her roots are here on island. Both of Malie’s parents are from Kauai. Although Malie was raised in the church, she rededicated her life to Jesus Christ at age 39. This new life in Christ brought about a number of changes, including a move to Kauai in 1998 where she embarked upon a career as a SCUBA instructor and shop manager for a local dive company.

Malie’s diverse background in office management prepared her for the position of church administrator here at Calvary Chapel Kauai. She has served in this position since 2003. In addition to her administrative duties at CCK, Malie is involved in a number of other CCK ministries, including teaching & overseeing the hula ministry, singing on the worship team, and working with Vacation Bible School. Working at CCK has helped Malie grow in her walk with the Lord. As Malie states, “Everyone on staff has genuine agape love for one another and encourages each other in their walk. It’s easier to be stretched in your faith when you know your brothers & sisters in Christ are right there cheering you on!”

Malie is married to Brian DelaCruz and has two adult children, Alyse and Aaron. She has been blessed with four grandsons and one granddaughter (so far!). In Malie’s spare time, she enjoys scuba diving, dancing and playing softball. One of Malie’s favorite scriptures is 2 Cor. 1:3-7. Malie’s myriad of interests & talents and her boundless energy & enthusiasm are wonderful assets to CCK’s minsistry.

Rachelle Nam
Children’s Ministry Director

Rachelle’s roots are on the island of Kaua’i where she was born and raised and is presently living. She is a graduate of The Kamehameha Schools. In her early twenties, she married Darrell Nam and they had two beautiful daughters, Chelsea and Candiss. Without Jesus Christ in Rachelle and Darrell’s lives, their marriage ended after about 10 years of marriage. Amazingly, God still had a plan to redeem and restore the Nam family! In 1991, Rachelle and her family, including Darrell, accepted Jesus Christ at a Harvest Crusade on Oahu. God began to transform Darrell and Rachelle and those around them, bringing hope for the future. However, six months after the crusade, the Lord sovereignly called Darrell home, but not before giving Rachelle and Darrell a beautiful opportunity to ask one another for forgiveness. God also gave their children time to experience the love of a godly father.

Since then, the Lord has used Rachelle through several ministries. She helped lead several teams to Hong Kong, China, and Japan with King’s Kids, a performing arts ministry of YWAM. She volunteered and later served as the Assistant Director for a crisis pregnancy center on Oahu for four years. More recently, she was the Hawaii State Coordinator for Moms In Touch International (MITI) for nine years, giving her wonderful opportunities to equip moms in prayer. She currently serves MITI as an International Leadership Developer for Rwanda, Sudan, Mali, Congo and South Africa.

The Lord called Rachelle back to Kaua’i in 2004 where she serves as the Children’s Ministry Director for Calvary Chapel Kaua’i. This ministry has touched the lives of hundreds of children through Vacation Bible School, Sports Camps, and various outreaches throughout the year. She is currently preparing the start of an AWANA Club to reach more children in our community for Jesus Christ. She has also provided opportunities for youth to be trained as junior assistants. A safe environment for the children prompted her to establish the policies and procedures that are currently in use. She also enjoys discipling women and children through Bible studies and teaching them how to have Quiet Times. More recently, she assisted in leading a new ministry called “Crown of Beauty” which assists post-abortive women in finding healing and forgiveness through the power of God’s Word. She is also a District Leader and trained Bible study leader for Precept Ministries International and enjoys sharing the tools needed to study God’s Word inductively.

Rachelle’s joy is spending time with her grown daughters; meeting new people and watching others grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. She enjoys watching inspirational movies and true stories that reveal the power of God with her family and friends. Rachelle has a lot of fun bicycling on the Kealia bike path, picking mango and lychee, and going on long car rides enjoying God’s creation. Her daughter, Chelsea, 28, is an administrator for the Painters Union on Oahu and Candiss, 26, teaches 5th graders in Los Angeles and leads worship at her church. A special blessing that the Lord has bestowed upon Rachelle is giving her time with her mom, Mabel, as they minster together here on Kauai.
